This mod will increase the output level with the expense of a little distortion. More diodes in series will also give you a wider range of clean to distorted sound but less distortion when the circuit is maxxed.

Something to note is that a germanium diode "clips"at around. A good multimeter will allow you to measure the diode and find out what the forward voltage is. LEDs will clip even later and give you more range of clean to distortion. Buzzwords: "Touch sensitivity increase", "More feel", "increased gain", "more dynamic range", "less compressed". Mellowing out distortion using a capacitor around diodes You can put a capacitor in parallel around the 2 diode pair and mellow out the high end of the distortion.

Increasing the capacitor value will cut out more and more of the highs. Changing the capacitor value will alter how much highs get cut from the distortion. Start with pf and start working up. Try pf, then pf etc. Asymmetrical Distortion with diodes In the diode pair, make one diode germanium and another silicon. Alternately, put two diodes on one side and one on the other. Essentially mismatch diodes to get this. Use a multi-meter that can measure diodes to find mismatches.

Apparently some people feel this will give a more "tube-like" distortion.

This is useful in both diodes to ground as shown above as well as diodes in a feedback loop like the Tube Screamer. Increasing bass response in and out of distortion box If the box has a small value input or output capacitor like. If you change the input capacitor to a larger value, you will put more bass into the distortion circuit.By TraceApril 12, in Modifications. You can make your own Oxygen sensor eliminators by installing ohm resisters across the leads to the OEM sensors.

Locate the natural and the black colored 4p connectors near the alternator cover left side and dissconnect them both. The 4p connectos have 4 leads. Use the two leads opposite the locking tab on each of the black and natural connectors, obviously on the side connected to the bike and not to the O2 sensors. You can remove the sensors and their wire harnesses if you want.

Plugs that fit where the sensors screw into the exhaust pipes are easily found at most any auto parts store. You can wrap with electrical tape or find large shrink wrap to protect the wireing job, zip tie them secure.

Trace 9 posts. Switchblade 5 posts. Darth Bling 5 posts. August 15, Unfortunately, any adju. November 1, CandyRed: Yeah at the the end of the day a programmable box is the best answer. Bypassing the 02 sensor substitutes one problem too rich for another too lean or too variable but it helps some. November 4, This mod is only for any bike running a PowerCommander. My guess is, it will prevent the bike from leaning itself out because it doesn't detect the rich mixture anymore.

I asked a similar question on another recent thread and am impatiently waiting for a response. Does the bike run richer overall, but without the Cat produces more hp? If one were to simply run eliminators on a bike with a Cat and no PCIII, what would happen, assuming no aftermarket pipes? Inquiring minds want to know!

I really know very little about the intricacies of the FI system and have learned a lot from some of our more technical folks at VFRD. As always, I appreciate the info!!

It is thought that eliminating the o2 sensors cures that midrange surge or flat spot in the power-band. Using an aftermarket silencer some have had success in curing the surging by eliminating the O2 sensors. When in constant throttle the ecm puts the fuel curve into stoichiometric mode and it burns with lower emissions, saves fuel, this seems to produce a flat spot or a surge when coming out of it.

Thanks HS. I was looking for a bit more ed-u-ma-ca-shun on how it actually worked in terms of various throttle situations so I appreciate the help.

So my question is, if the Cat is not there ie 99 header pipe and the sensors are eliminated, does the bike run leaner, regardless of throttle state steady, WOT or does the bike run richer? It seems the removal of the Cat would decrease the restriction enough to require a change in the mixture assuming factory exhaust and no PC III. So, to complete my ramblings, if I were to get 99 headers, with no aftermarket pipes and no PC III for my Vtec, would I notice any positive or negative performance changes hp or will it simply be enough to address surging problems for those unlucky owners that have them?

Map Sensor is what controls the fuel air mixture mostly, but it hands off to the O2 sensors when in open loop during those steady throttle sessions then it goes very lean into stoichometric, it think its 14 parts air 1 part fuel. Map sensor measures the manifold vacuum pressure which is what controls the fuel mix when tied with the throttle postion sensor - its a three dimensional map tp sensor vs map sensor air temp sensor in the airbox - it is when one of these variables is held constant that the O2 sensors is used, TP constant input for so many seconds loops in the o2 sensors.

The computer needs to know the volume of air at what pressure and temperature in the cyclinder to inject the right amount of fuel based on the throttle input at the time of the intake stroke. Its of course more complicated than I explain but basically thats the idea.Thank you for visiting us.

We are currently backordered on kayaks until January. Select parts and accessories are still available. Finding the perfectly-kitted kayak is easier than ever. But some people would rather get the best hull they can and take care of the bells and whistles themselves with kayak mods. Others just like the satisfaction of knowing that they made something themselves. Kayak hacks and modifications are especially handy in the kayak fishing world.

Take it for a spin or two and get a feel for the adjustments that you actually want before you start drilling holes. Track mounts are a great way to customize your kayak without drilling holes. The adjustability of track mounts can save a lot of hassle there. Every kayaker should have at least two carabiners and cordage on hand.

They can also help keep your kayak tied to trees on shore. And while not every carabiner is rated for rescue, having one that is can help you secure rescue gear when reaching out or throwing to someone in trouble. But apart from their many other uses, cordage and carabiners are also part of many kayak hacks. An anchor trolley system is just one kayak mod that makes good use of cordage and a carabiner, and you can make one without drilling any holes.

Tie the pulleys off at the bow and stern of the boat and loop the cord through the pulleys down the length of the boat, tying it off at the metal ring. You can use that to store your kayak anchor, and run it up the length of your boat to set anchor wherever you need. Like rope, strapping is a good, all-purpose item to have on hand. You can use it to tie gear down in your boat, and you can use it to tie your kayak down to the roof of your vehicle.

You can also use it for knee braces. Knee braces, also known as thigh straps, are lengths of webbing that keep your legs secure in a sit-on-top kayak, giving you more control over your boat. Thigh straps give you additional points of contact with your boat, helping you navigate more adventurous waters.Chris West.

You tell yourself that it would warrant a lot of mechanical knowledge to undertake a project of such stature — it would be ludicrous to believe that the world of customizable vehicles was well within your reach. Punish The Pavement. Low quality, stock tires can be one of the biggest downfalls of a vehicle.

Proportionally reducing sidewall height, increasing wheel diameter, and increasing width to ensure your wider tires keep the same diameter will help put more rubber on the pavement and increase drivability. Designed to offer outstanding driver feedback and control, the SP Sport Maxx GT features refined carbon black tread compound technology that allows for asymmetrical tread design and larger blocks — keeping your vehicle in contact with the road for more precise handling.

A hybrid jointless band is wrapped in Aramid to provide exceptional durability while reducing weight, alongside a rayon cord casing that was built to enhance high-speed capability. The key to this responsiveness is the stability of your throttle body and the components surrounding it. In older cars, a cable throttle creates a physical coupling between the throttle pedal and the throttle body on the engine, while newer platforms rely on specific tuning algorithms utilized within an electronic control unit ECU.

In vehicles that still contain a traditional throttle body, the wear and tear of time can cause the cable to become stretched, resulting in a need for adjustment. Thankfully, on most cars, this is easily corrected — all you need is some technical tools and a couple minutes of your time.

Featuring direct fit replacement and a higher airflow that creates quicker throttle response and better acceleration. Stopping Power Reigns Supreme. One of the best and most affordable mods you can utilize to upgrade the performance and handling of your car is to transition toward a quality brake pad setup.

Not only do a good set of brakes and brake pads reduce the stopping distance of a vehicle, they also help to eliminate fade in repeated hard braking situations that you encounter on a day-to-day basis. Hands down, a quick and easy brake pad replacement is one of the simplest things you can do to upgrade performance. Knowledge and labor aside, it should take no longer than a couple of hours to swap out the pads on all four wheels of your vehicle — and much less time if you have any experience.

A high-torque brake compound that was engineered for autocross applications helps the pads retain a high fade resistance, as well as reproducible performance over a wide range of operating temperatures. Breathe In, Breathe Out. While factory air intakes on most cars are designed to keep the engine clean and free-breathing in all conditions, an aftermarket air intake system will benefit your vehicle by opening up a path that lets cooler, ambient air into the engine, producing more power and prolonging engine life.

This upgrade is relatively straight forward, and with a full transition to a new intake system, you should feel a minor increase in performance and response behind the wheel. Installing a cold air intake is relatively straightforward — the difficulty comes with clearing a path for the new system in your engine bay. Removing the airbox from your original system and attaching the new CAI will allow you to bypass the hefty foam filter box that came with your car.

As with most items on this list, the CAI replacement is relatively affordable and requires little knowledge to achieve — but we still recommend taking your vehicle to a shop should you feel that the task is too overwhelming. The system is custom designed depending on the make and model of the vehicle, and features a Crosslink nylon intake tube that provides cooler air to your engine than a traditional metal tube found in most aftermarket offerings. While it varies depending on the vehicle and circumstantial inhibitors, the FIPK intake system boasts gains of up to 26 horsepower for certain platforms.

Usually, these systems are implemented during the production process and arrive from the factory with preset parameters that control the fuel-air mixture in the engine, maximizing efficiency and power.

As with most upgraded products, this depends heavily on the make and model of your vehicle, as well as the parameters that have been set by the manufacturer to abide by the optimal operating range for your car.

The AEM Infinity 6 ECU was designed for the price-aware race track star, providing notable improvements such as high-performance airflow-based VE tuning for fuel injection control, Flex Fuel, knock control, ignition control, boost control, launch control, traction control, and engine protection facilities.

It features an environmentally sealed waterproof case alongside a drive by wire throttle control, intake and exhaust cam control, short-term and long-term map learning, and dual-channel knock control. An Audible Progression.

Just like cold air intakes, exhaust systems are one of those mods that you never stop hearing about. Aside from the obvious resonance and sound enhancements that your vehicle will achieve through a new exhaust, it will allow your engine to run more efficiently. These systems are infamous for their resemblant tone to the throaty exhausts utilized in NASCAR and super truck applications, providing unrestricted airflow for those who are looking for a moderate increase in engine performance.

Built with a fast-flowing, restriction-free stainless steel tubing, these systems feature a steel mesh core that ensures optimum temperature for exhaust movement, an acoustic-absorbing material that cuts down on unappealing audible notes, and overlapped welds that will keep your exhaust system in working condition for years to come.

Maintain Good Posture. Subframes are in-depth modifications of steel tubing and reinforcements that can be bolted or welded to the bottom of your chassis to increase rigidity — in turn, the handling and efficiency of your vehicles turning, sway, and movement are drastically increased. As a result, this enhancement is a little more time consuming, as many man-hours and labor fees will pile up depending on the amount and complexity of the reinforcement. DC Sports has become a well-known name in the tuning industry, and their crossbody chassis braces have been featured on more customized vehicles than we can count. How to choose a Turbo kit for the Suzuki Hayabusa.

Before we attempt to answer the question of how do you choose the right turbo kit for your Suzuki Hayabusa, we must first understand the terminology used in turbo kits.

Once you understand how different turbo kits operate and what the advantages and benefits are of each kit are, then you can more proficiently choose the turbo kit that's right for you. Turbo or Muzzy; this information will help you choose the right turbo kit for your Suzuki Hayabusa.

Different Stages of Turbo kits for the Suzuki Hayabusa. Stage I: these are entry-level turbo kits producing approximately between hp and hp, and which generally come with a plenum or intake, turbo header, turbo, internal or external wastegate usually internalexhaust, FMU and plumbing.

These kits will just bolt on, with no need for internal modifications. The extra fuel required while under boost is handled by an FMU or what is called a rising rate fuel pressure regulator. These turbo kits are limited on what boost they can run; because once they are tuned, you cannot change the boost PSI without ruining the tune, unless you have an EFI controller capable of storing more than one MAP, with the ability to switch between different maps at the push of a button or through the use of an RPM switch.

Stage II: these kits produced between hp to hp, depending on the manufacturer and configuration. The most important difference between the Stage I Turbo Kit and the States II Turbo Kit is secondary fueling, which allows you the ability to regulate boost with any type of boost controller. It is generally a good idea to consider internal modifications after the hp mark is reached; there are many different opinions as to when these modifications should be done.

I will leave this subject up to your engine builder and you. These kits usually always require internal modifications to keep them from blowing apart, considering the boost levels used and the horsepower created.

Inter-cooling Turbo kits for the Suzuki Hayabusa. These are the intercoolers you generally see mounted in the front bumper of an Import Sports Car.

These intercoolers work by forcing the compressed air into a heat exchanger which is mounted generally in front of the radiator, as air passes over the aluminum fins of the intercooler heat from discharged air is transferred to the air passing through the intercooler and thus lowers the temperature of the intake charge.

The water is then circulated to another heat exchanger, which is usually a radiator from the same type of bike, which has been cut down to one third its size. As the water passes through the heat exchanger inside the intake, the water absorbs the heat and transfers it to the other heat exchanger, which in turn transfers the heat to the atmosphere. Water to air intercoolers are the most efficient form of intercooling, but they do consist of more parts and plumbing.

As water is injected into the intake tract it absorbs heat, much in the same way their radiators water would absorb heat, then once in the combustion chamber it is converted to steam during the combustion process; thus absorbing more heat.

Due to the properties of water, a great amount of heat is absorbed when water is converted from a liquid to a gas, this creates the intercooling affect.

If you also employ the use of methanol in your water injection system, you are injecting high octane alcohol which further adds to the intercooling process and at the same time increases octane. With water injection you may safely raise the boost pressure without increasing fuel octane, more than you could increase it without the use of water injection.

Water injection can also be used in conjunction with intercooling. Water injection is not as efficient as intercooling, but can get you very similar effects for less money. Fuel Management:. Depending on how you adjust the unit, as boost pressure increases, the fuel pressure increases at an exponential rate.

This increase in fuel allows the injectors to flow enough fuel to the combustion chamber during boost to maintain the proper air fuel mixture ratio. The way these fuel pressure regulators operate is by referencing boost pressure in the intake tract. The reason they are not usually connected under the throttle bodies is they will actually reduce fuel pressure when vacuum is applied to them and generally you want to keep your fuel pressure at 43 PSI if you are not under boost.

The way these fuel pressure regulators operate is as one PSI of boost is seen in the intake tract your fuel pressure regulator will raise the fuel pressure by one PSI and will raise fuel pressure in a one-to-one ratio as boost pressure rises in the intake tract.

The reason for this is to maintain proper air to fuel mixture ratios, because as boost pressure rises if you do not raise the fuel pressure on a one-to-one ratio eventually you will stop flowing fuel and the boost will actually push into your fuel system, if you're motor doesn't blow up first. Power Commander or similar tuning computer: these are computers that attached to your factory fuel injection system and have the ability to tune your factory fuel injection settings based on RPM and throttle position, some of the newer models even have boost reference; which allows you to increase fuel based on boost pressure.

These are generally used on Stage I Kits to keep costs down and work by manipulating the factory ECUs signals to either increase or decrease fuel at a certain point in the fuel map. Most can only handle one map at a time, although there are some models which allow you to switch between different maps and can be tuned to different boost pressures.

This essentially changes the factory parameters in the stock ECU for both fuel and ignition through the use of a computer. This does require the use of special equipment to connect your computer to your factory ECUs and the proper software for flashing the new maps into your factory EFI ECU.

Secondary Injection: Secondary Injection is when four additional fuel injectors are placed above the stock throttle bodies and an aftermarket ECU controls the operation of these injectors based on engine RPM and boost pressure. There has been some attempts to use a single fuel injector located in the intake tract, but this is only cause more problems than benefits, as there is no way to regulate the fuel being distributed to the different cylinders, leaving you with the problem of some cylinders being lean and others rich. The more enlightened have realised that the term refers to any motorcycle that has been changed from its standard form.

From tiny, five minute changes that can transform the feel of the bike like fitting Renthal gripsto parts that can take weeks to perfect yet only the most eagle-eyed of viewers will notice, via the time and money-consuming eye-grabbing alterations that no-one can miss — like multi-thousand pound paint schemes — any custom modification will make your bike into a cooler, more individual expression of what, and who, you are.

Looking to modify your bike? Well, take a look at our extensive list of modifications and accessoriesand the ways these could impact your insurance. So here we go, eighty modifications. Some radical, some simple, all intended to give some inspiration…. Traditional choppers are long. Really long! And nothing turns heads like a really long chopper! This FireBlade chop makes regular trips from Blighty to Spain and back. Guaranteed to pull a crowd at any bike meeting. Given that the first motorcycles were just pushbikes with engines added, and that components for mountain bikes are getting stronger and more effective, then why not use modern pushbike components on a custom bike?

Using a swinging arm originally designed for use at the rear of a bike in the construction of the front suspension may seem a bit at odds, but it works. The potential for over bhp is there, if you have a Suzuki Hayabusa, but any bike can be fitted with a turbo. Or, in the case of this Bandit, two turbochargers! Some of the most inspiring custom bikes ever built have been created on a tight budget, using little more than cheap parts and hard graft.

Much like this Honda CB that appears as though it was built from the bits left over after a successful autojumble trip…. By bringing two different styles of bike together in one project, you can often create a stand-out machine that looks far better than it ever should. Good examples would be fitting a large capacity two stroke motocross engines in a hardtail chopper, using a GSX-R engine in an enduro bike, or a BMW flat twin in a lightweight supermoto, as seen here.

Old-fashioned style with modern performance is what many of us desire, so why not go out there and get it? Or, perhaps more to the point, make it! Either way, the effort is always worth the result.

Converting a motorcycle to a motortricycle was once the sole reserve of talented home merchanics, but now there are a significant number of companies making trike conversion kits such as that fitted to this Triumph.

Turning the cylinder head around is no five minute task, but having the carbs or fuel injection at the front and the exhausts running straight out of the back of the head looks very trick! Perhaps one of the most extreme measures in custom bike building, and invariably necessitating a brand new frame.

They can even be made to look good, as this Volkswagen engine proves. Narrow, old school tyres are in vogue at the moment, but then so are very narrow handlebars. Ideal for cutting through rush hour traffic and slipping through narrow gaps, and looking cool at the same time. They also give a good upper body workout!Forums New posts Search forums. Suzuki GSX1300R Hayabusa - Airbox Modification - Part 21

Looking at the picture of my current setup, what exactly do I need to do to raise this bike back up to stock height? Anyone who can help me with stock parts would greatly be appreciated and you can have my lowering parts for FREE in return.

I've had a few guys talk to me about this but I really do not know the concept on how this is done. I have most of the tools except for a bike jack Sloto Off we go, into the wild blue yonder Donating Member.

Hardest part for you will be that you dont have a front end stand though, that can be solved by using a cargo strap to hold up the front end.
