When I get a notification that there is someone at my door they rang the Ring doorbellby the time the app opens, the person is usually gone. Yes, it takes that long for the app to open to the video doorbell.
I can wait another minute or two and it will show up in my video history. Of course, by then it's too late to respond. The main culprit for such a concern is usually the Wi-Fi connection to your device.
If you give our support team a call they would be happy to work with you and get things running smoother as well. I also wanted to confirm if this post is the same concern you are expressing here?
If so, can we delete it to avoid having any duplicate posts in the Community? Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app? Have you downloaded Rapid Ring App to see if that makes a difference?

I have the same issue with Delayed notification. While a glitch in a smart home product is by no means uncommon, Nest seems like it might have a pretty big problem in the form of a rash of delayed notifications to owners of its relatively new Nest Hello doorbell, a product that received no less than a 4.
The community manager nodded to requests for the notification cooldown period for Nest Hello to be adjustable by customers, not set by default. More concretely, Nest said that a feature that will allow customers to record both sides of a conversation between Nest Hello and a mobile device is actively in development and the company should have an update to announce in the coming months.

My wifes IPhone 7 on Vodafone receives notifications much quicker, in seconds, whereas mine on Virgin takes several minutes.
Any ideas or do I need to leave and move to another network? Sounds like the same push notification problem that is associated with the many post regarding whatsapp etc. As a Very Insightful PersonI'm here to share my knowledge.
I don't work for Virgin Media. Is there any solution to this otherwise the network is second rate and will have to look elsewhere. You've got the nail on the head, vm are 2nd rate as they are cheaper than the big 4 networks, so the service for some things is less good. Many of the problems seem to have arisen since Virgin wanted to be like the big kids and run their own core network. The big 4 have had a lot of experience in this but it seems beyond the scope of Virgin's technicians for some reason.
Problems like this are taking months to sort out. Same here but with Ring 2 doorbell and 1st Generation Ring. Any help will be much appreciated. The Eken door bell works very well as a security camera when mobile. However the push notifications get worse in their delay the further from home you go. On WiFi the phone rings almost instantly. I am pretty happy with the Virgin cost and coverage and data speed except for this issue which also affects WhatsApp so I have to text.
I can't set my data to 3 as I only have a PAYG with them but I may have to switch as I am getting fed up of going to the sorting office for my parcels. I have three solutions for anyone to try as I had similar issues especially with push notifications from my ring door bell whe on mobile data.
Change this to Virgin Mobile and save the setting. I don't know if this was the answer as I did number 2 below at the same time. However my notifications are now instant whether VPN is on or not. You Get 15 GB throughput a month for free so might be enough for some.

Just keep closing the offer to try the premium version at first, to try the free version VPN. If it works for you, as it did for me, I'm thinking of going premium. The only problem with this is my credit on my payg is down every time someone rings my bell.

While the Ring Doorbell can send you alerts if anyone actually rings it by pressing the button, you can also receive alerts whenever motion is detected. On this screen, you can select which zones you want enabled for detection and how far out you want the detection to reach.
To enable or disable a certain zone, simply just tap on it. After that, use the slider on the left-hand side to adjust how far out you want the motion detection to reach. A pop-up will appear that says to push the button on the Ring Doorbell to save and confirm the changes. For me, I had to pretty much turn it all the way down to its lowest setting before it would finally stop giving me false positives, but your mileage may vary. The Best Tech Newsletter Anywhere.

Since we launched inour articles have been read more than 1 billion times. Want to know more?I had this doorbell since Nest started selling it last March and during my review, I noticed that there is a delay in motion notifications which ranges from 15 to 30 seconds.
Around May, they made an announcement that they are going to address the 3 issues…which to recap…. First is the delay in motion notification. Now, this issue is one of the features that I checked when I review security cameras and Nest is not the only one that has delays… the Wyze cam and the Yi also have these delay. Second issue, is the long cool off period. This is the time in between alert notifications. So, if you get alerted of motion at your front door which is already 15 seconds late, you will not get notified again until around 10 minutes later.
Now, all of these became an issue with the Nest and especially the Nest Hello doorbell because when it was compared to the Ring Pro doorbell, all these shortcomings became apparent.
Ring cameras have an almost instant notification, cool off is about a minute And as you probably seen and heard in video footage of Ring here on Youtube, that it records both sides of the conversation.
This is helpful especially in reviewing the video later on for legal purposes. That was May when Nest promised that they are going to address those issues and it is already September…and will be going on 6 months after the Nest Hello doorbell was released and as far as I know, no updates yet.
My Nest Hello has been relegated to my back patio door…mostly for testing purposes and it is hooked up to an AC adapter which gives out constant voltage to the doorbell. You will also see that I have my Ring spotlight cam wired outside and will act as a control for this notification test.
As you can see, today is September 1st, in the morning. Also, I turned off WiFi on my phone and this will be on cellular data.
As to doorbell press and notification, the nest does the job on mine and it loads up the app pretty quick. Now, you will see the lag when I open up the notification. It should have taken me to live view instead of the recording.
This makes the user more confused and I actually cannot get to the 2 way audio until I scrolled to live view. This is so that you will all have an idea of how long the delay is. This is a test of motion notification, so he is not going to press the doorbell.
Added to the notification delay, we need to add the delay in opening the app and also with me trying to figure out where the mic is so that I can start the 2-way audio. Please note that the mic will not appear unless you are in live view…so with the Nest, if you answer the notification, you will get the recording which is delayed.
Nest, I already know how to fix this…get the user to live view instead of the recording…which means you can push the notification first, then worry about the recording later…. Now the 3rd issue is this. The recording that you get and saved will only have the audio of the person on the camera.
The last few weeks, their Hello doorbell community forum started trickling comments from their customers complaining about the issues. Also, another issue has come up aside from the 3 that I mentioned.
People also started complaining about the doorbell going offline multiple times a day. I occasionally will get an email when this happens and you can check it out yourself also in your sight line. Just scroll through it and when you see a dark shaded area, this means that the doorbell has been offline.
So what if it is offline around the time that you need it to monitor and record? This is another issue that Nest needs to address. Now, I usually will not complain or make a video complaining.By clicking the 'Get a Free Quote' button below, I agree that an ADT specialist may contact me via text messages or phone calls to the phone number provided by me using automated technology about ADT offers and consent is not required to make a purchase.

As soon as a visitor hits the button, a blue light races around the circumference of the button, and the doorbell emits a loud chime sound. Ring operates on a simple concept. The Ring camera has a wide field of view, and captures in p. Or are you? In another state. When Ring worked as advertised, it delivered on all its promises. When Ring was working without a hitch, the time delay between someone hitting the doorbell and receiving an alert on my phone was almost non-existent. But those were only best-case scenarios.
Throughout real-world testing with visiting strangers as well as staged testing with friends, I oftentimes experienced very long latencies between the button press and a phone notification. Sometimes the lag would last up to three or four seconds.
Case in point: the hapless pizza delivery guy who pressed the Ring button two times before giving up, and calling my phone. When pairing Ring to your phone, make sure you do so at the exact location where the doorbell will be installed.
I blame spotty home Wi-Fi for this particular performance problem. My Wi-Fi is dual-band, supporting both 2. Step one: When you hear the chime sound, get to your phone and unlock it. Step two: Launch the Ring app from your notifications shade. Step three: Wait for the app to load. And in best-case scenarios, the app would load as quickly as what you see in my video at the top of this article. But oftentimes these ostensibly brief steps would take forever. Sometimes my phone would be in another room.
Ring Video Doorbell review: The gadget that makes crooks think you never leave home
But worst of all, sometimes the video chat screen would take an eternity to load. The just-released Chime accessory provides an audible chime sound that works independently of your smartphone. But the bottomline is that simply getting to the video chat screen can be a long, frustrating experience. From there you can just go straight to your front door, and talk to your visitor in person. Throughout testing, I liked how I could verify the comings and goings of our dog walker simply by listening for the sound of the chime.
The motion alert feature is ultra-sensitive, so I had to decrease its range to reduce false positives. Instead, you have to wait for someone to approach the door. Video capture is limited to p, but the image quality is perfectly acceptable.
The camera has a degree field of view, which is essential for my doorstep, as I had to mount Ring at a right angle to my security gate. Pulling off the doorbell for recharging is a simple matter of removing two screws with a special tool that Ring provides, and then sliding the doorbell off a backing plate.
Sounds good to me—as this review unit is affixed with double-sided tape. As for overall durability, the doorbell is rain-resistant, and is rated to operate in temperatures ranging from -5 to degrees Fahrenheit.
